What's in the news ? ( post 10 )

We had the task of finding a news story and then story- boarding a music video inspired by this event. We could choose any story we like and had complete freedom with the conventions of the music video, so we could take the idea anyway we really wanted.

The news story I picked:
I picked a the news story about Michael Bond, the author of paddington, dying as the story to base my music video on. I chose this story as I feel like there is a lot of different directions you could take the story as it is based around such a creative individual.

Here is the story board :

I am not very good at drawing so I will summarise my idea:

  • Michael Bond sitting at a desk in an armchair writing, and then the focus becomes onto the book and Paddington bursts out of it.
  • They then meet and walk down a street together, and go to lots of different places and have lots of fun together.
  • Then Michael Bond grows ill and dies, which is very upsetting for Paddington.
  • He then gets a train from Peru to Paddington station and thus it leads into the original story of Paddington Bear.
Song choice:
The song to fit this music video would have to be a mixture of happy and sad to fit the narrative.
 I think Talking heads - This Must Be The Place would be quite a good fit because its neither too upbeat or slow. If you wanted a calmer version there is also the cover by the Lumineers that would work too.

Research into existing student made video ( post 3 )

If  had a gun - A2 media studies music video (A Grade): Creativity  I feel this particular student made music video is very creative in the way they have used many different camera shots and angles. for example they have used an ordinary wide shot but rewinded making it look like a times lapse. moreover, they have also used close up, pan shot, wide shot, and extreme close up.   setting/location The setting of the music video seems to start in a town or a city (possibly a quite part of the town/city as we are only exposed to a busy road with not a lot of buildings or shops). however, this then changes about 37 seconds in when we see an extreme close up of a pair of shoes on sand which we assume to be a beach. Then, the location changes again about a minute and half in to the music video when we see the character in a cemetery. then for the rest of the music video we are also exposed to a car park and another street within a city or a town.  costume/props (suppo
