My Plan : Update

After some thought, I have decided to work by myself to complete my coursework as I an idea I really wanted to pursue and create to challenge myself this year; so here is my updated plan on going forward with my A2 media coursework.

I was inspired by the song ' Cops and Robbers'  by The Hoosiers, as I had the image of a police chase come into my mind when I originally heard the song. It is quite an upbeat and fast pace song, so I thought it would fit it well. If you watch the original video below, the band chose to set it in the Victorian times and portray a crime filled England with lip syncing being incorporated into that setting, rather than having studio shots of the band. I decided to link this with my idea of a police chase and came up with the idea of creating a silent film style chase, dressing the band up in the stereotypical criminal and police wear. However, to adapt it to be more original I am planning  on having studio shots of the band performing the song as well to make it seem more modern and to also keep it interesting so the audience doesn't get bored.

I was also inspired to do this idea due to the 1950s French film movement - la Nouvelle Vague ( the new wave ). I will do further research into this to widen my knowledge but I initially know that it is a style that depicted the common classes, which links to my idea of criminals for my video. They often used gloomier lighting and longer takes, with portable equipment which is perfect for creating the effect I would like and also will challenge me when I complete my work as I am used to taking shorter shots to create an effect. I think this contrasted to the band performing the song will make for an unique music video, that will incorporate both modern and older film styles.

I am excited about creating this idea as I think it will stretch my production skills and help me learn more about film history in my research.
