Construction : Rough Cut 3
Here is my 3rd attempt of editing my music video, the changes I made were to add some titles to make sure the audience know who the song is by and its title, so if they want to purchase upon seeing the video they have the information they need. I also then added a film grain filter and an old film opening to add make the silent film element more authentic, and I am pleased with the outcome as I think it now is easily recognisable from that time period. This also allowed me to develop my editing skills again as I had to deal with video effects, such as multiply, to blend the filter into the footage that I had not come across before, again allowing me to make progress with my personal target which was to work on my editing skills
However I was not quite happy enough with it to make it my final cut. Some of the performance element does not to feel to be quite at the same standard as the silent film scenes, making the whole video have less of an effective impact. Therefore, I have now made the plan to add some extra bits of footage in of Stewart, the person who plays the policeman, in the recording studio behind the glass using the tech equipment. This would then give me some more footage to replace some of the band moments which I think aren't to an high enough standard, and adds an extra aspect to the video as it adds an element of production. I decided to make the policeman the producer so then both the characters link together throughout both elements of the video, and it can add a deeper meaning as it like the producer tries to control them within their music and then in the narrative they are able to break free and create music and be the identity they want to be. However, even though this meaning is there, I want to keep the fun upbeat of the film so this will be very subtle.
