Planning - Costume and Make up ( Post 29 )

Costume

I would like to concentrate on costume as one of the main aspects of my mis-en-scene as I think it could make the video much more entertaining to watch and also portray the style in a clearer way. Due to the main characters of my video being 'cops and robbers ' I am planning on including the stereotypical costumes of these to make the personas obvious to the audience. Also, due to the fact that I want to include a silent film style film chase within the video, by using these costumes it will create more of a feel of the time period , as they are the classical costumes used throughout time; and will also add a sense of comedy which is usually incorporated within that style. Furthermore it will give the band a more distinguished image if they are all recognised in a symmetrical costume and make them stand out in the video. I am planning on having them perform the music in the same costumes so they have the same image throughout the video and add a sense of cohesion so it all fits together and flows better. This will link the performance elements with the other parts of the music video.

  • Smart suit

These costumes are crucial to my video as without them my characters have no way of being identified and the whole video would be really confusing. By having clear and simple costumes, it makes the characters and their role clearer and thus the video easier to follow.

To be able to afford all the costumes I need for the video, I am working alongside with school who will give me a small budget to be able to finance the costumes required. Here are the emails of this being organised:

Research into existing student made video ( post 3 )

If  had a gun - A2 media studies music video (A Grade): Creativity  I feel this particular student made music video is very creative in the way they have used many different camera shots and angles. for example they have used an ordinary wide shot but rewinded making it look like a times lapse. moreover, they have also used close up, pan shot, wide shot, and extreme close up.   setting/location The setting of the music video seems to start in a town or a city (possibly a quite part of the town/city as we are only exposed to a busy road with not a lot of buildings or shops). however, this then changes about 37 seconds in when we see an extreme close up of a pair of shoes on sand which we assume to be a beach. Then, the location changes again about a minute and half in to the music video when we see the character in a cemetery. then for the rest of the music video we are also exposed to a car park and another street within a city or a town.  costume/props (suppo
