Checkpoint 1 : R&P Mark Scheme ( Post 38 )
As an exercise to keep me on track and to help me evaluate how my coursework is going so far to see if I need any improvements, and by being able to mark a blog properly I will have a fuller understanding of what I need to include in my blog to make sure it is the best I can be, as I will know what the mark scheme wants of me. If I can identify a level 4 piece of blog work it will give me an idea of how to include that standard into my own blog. This is the mark scheme that I will be following:
Level 3 : 12-15 marks:
- Planning an research evidence will be complete.
- There is proficient research into similar products and a potential target audience.
- There is proficient work on shot lists, layouts, drafting, scripting and storyboarding.
- There is proficient organisation of actors, locations, costumes or props.
- Time management is good.
- There is proficient skill in the use of digital technology or ICT in the presentation.
- There are proficient communication skills.
- There is a good level of care in the presentation of research and planning.
The first blog I will be looking at is Megan's, as she is the furthest ahead in the class with filming so I felt like her planning posts would have been completed to a high standard due to this organisation. The post I picked was her sound post, within which she plans the different styles of sound she wants to include in her music video.
Her post starts of with definitions of the key words surrounding sound within film, which would fulfil the research part of the mark scheme as it demonstrates she has looked into the terminology surrounding her work. This research is very clear and she gives an example for the diegetic sound, adding to the depth and understanding shown within this post. She has also found a video example of folley sound, showing research into similar products and suggested how she may contain it within her own coursework, showing the application of her research to her planning and how she has thought about how to include the best types of sound to fit her video by thinking about these different types of sound.
Furthermore, for the lip syncing aspect of her video she has included a video of the song she is using for her coursework so the reader can watch the whole thing, and then underneath has quoted the lines she is planning on using lip-syncing within her video. This shows excellent planning, fitting level 4 of the mark scheme, as she has obviously thought about exactly what she wants her video to look like down to each line in the song, showing a very detailed insight into what her video may be like. Also, her blog is very well presented and everything fits into the same theme throughout each post, so it is easy to navigate and read.
The next blog I am looking it as Jordan's, and I have chosen the same post to evaluate as Megan,
as then I can make a direct comparison between the two. Jordan has researched into the different types of sound but it is not as detailed as it could be, so is less likely to reach a high grade boundary. He discusses the plan for their video but very briefly, and with no videos or images to help support his idea and planning making it less detailed and thus not level 4. They do not include the song within the post which could have been helpful as it is referred to within their planning, however they do refer to research into similar products by saying lip syncing is usually used in music videos. The layout of his blog is neat and easy to navigate which is a positive as well.
Overall from this task I have gained a deeper understanding into what I should include in my blog to make it the best it can be:
- Make sure it is presented well and clearly as it allows people to navigate the content more easily.
- To include as much detail as possible so to make sure you show your knowledge and understanding.
- Be specific with your planning to show you have really thought about it.
- Include examples or images to show research or your plan to give the reader a clearer idea.
